Big wide world DECLARES A CLIMATE EMERGENCY

We are committed to responsible travel and have chosen to join other travel companies in declaring a climate emergency.  We understand the impact the travel industry has on the environment and we are committed to reverse the damage done by making travel a force for good.  We acknowledge the seriousness of the environmental situation and we accept our responsibility to tell the truth, work together and help build a new, regenerative travel industry.

For that reason we commit to the following:

1. Develop a climate emergency plan.

Our executive board of directors are working on this currently.

2. Share our commitment and progress publicly

We are passionate about protecting our world and always promote responsible and sustainable tourism.  Our blog, social media accounts and website all have ideas and content suggesting how our clients can reduce the harm they may cause to the environment whilst travelling.  We only work with partners and suppliers on the ground who can demonstrate their behaviour towards making travel sustainable and a force for good.

3. Cut carbon emissions

We accept current IPCC advice stating the need to cut global carbon emissions to 55% below 2017 levels by 2030 to keep the planet within 1.5 degrees of warming. We will ensure our ‘Climate Emergency Plan’ represents actions designed to achieve this as a minimum, through delivering transparent, measurable and increasing reductions in the total carbon emissions per trip arising from our operations and the travel services we sell

4. Work together

We actively encourage our suppliers and partners to make the same declaration; share best practice amongst peers;  and actively participate in the Tourism Declares community.

 5. Advocate for change

We recognise the need for system change across the industry, and call for urgent regulatory action to accelerate the transition towards zero carbon air travel.
